Assessment
During a chiropractic consultation, the practitioner will assess your medical history and any chronic pains or injuries. They will ask questions such as when your pain started and if you have had any recent surgeries. This information helps them understand if your discomfort is related to the bone, joint, or nervous system.
Chiropractic care can be a helpful complement to traditional medicine, and the consultation is an important step in determining a treatment plan. At the end of the consultation, your chiropractor may recommend certain adjustments or exercises to alleviate your pain. Remember to keep them updated on any changes in your health, as this will inform the effectiveness of your chiropractic care.
Exam
- The chiropractor will then move on to the physical exam to test the motion range in the affected part of your body. The exam would also include:
Test for resistance or rigidity in muscles. - Testing nerve flow and neurological integrity.
- X-Ray, MRI and other diagnostic studies if needed
Diagnosis
Findings from the patient’s history, physical examination, and diagnostic tests usually help the chiropractor to arrive at a specific diagnosis. Once the latter is established, the best course of action will be explained to you in detail.
